Due to continued growth we are recruiting for skilled HIM Facility Outpatient coding professionals with Emergency Department (ED), Same Day Surgery (SDS), Observation and Ancillary coding experience to provide quality-based production coding to our hospital and health system clients. The Facility Outpatient Coder will apply appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health records, in a timely manner, for ED, SDS, Observation and Ancillary facility services to facilitate claims processing, proper reimbursement, data retrieval and analysis.

Review and abstract pertinent information for patient medical records. Report diagnoses, treatments, as well as surgical and non-surgical procedures for facility medical services.
Ensure documentation supports all coded services. When services are not documented appropriately, seek to attain proper instruction, such as clarifying if a procedure was performed and/or requesting completion of the documentation in a timely manner, based upon the protocols developed by healthcare Resource Group and the client.
Rectify errors in the pre-processor and post-processor editing systems when assigned by client.
When, and if assigned by management, provide accurate answers to providers/clients coding and billing questions on a timely basis, including rectifying coding related errors.
Maintain production and quality standards as set forth by Healthcare Resource Group.
Maintain a working knowledge, and stay abreast of, ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding principles, modifier usage, medical terminology, governmental regulations, protocols and third party payer requirements pertaining to billing, coding and documentation as well as client-specific guidelines.
Maintain strictest confidentiality of patient and clients, abiding by HIPAA.
Review and recommend changes to policies and procedures to improve coding and data management for Healthcare Resource Group and client.
Exercise excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact and communicate with multiple professional disciplines.
Demonstrate service excellence, integrity, and initiative.
Abide by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association, and adhere to official coding guidelines. Abide by AAPC Code of Ethics.
Abide by Healthcare Resource Group’s Code of Conduct.
Maintain coding certification(s) and educational requirements.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Certification: CCS, CCS-P, RHIA and/or RHIT certification required
3+ years of outpatient facility coding experience to include ED, SDS, Observation and Ancillary coding
Experience in McKesson, Paragon, or 3M a plus
