Job Description

The Interim HIM Director will lead and direct the health information management services across client healthcare systems; striving for compliance and promoting best practices and education in all areas. Provide HIM operational and technical leadership, focusing on the Facility Coding Team. Additional duties could include oversight and management of medical records, transcription, ROI, security, compliance, privacy, operations and CDI programs. This position requires travel to client sites, excellent inter-personal and communication skills as well as a positive attitude.

Position Requirements

Certification:

  • RHIA or RHIT degree required
  • Additional certification of CCS, CCS-P preferred
  • ICD-10 Train the Trainer certification preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years of HIM Director experience with strengths in Coding leadership and mentoring required
  • 10 years of acute care healthcare facility experience required
  • Hospital inpatient and outpatient coding expertise required; including thorough knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, MS-DRG, POA, HAC, APC, and CPT/HCPCS coding classification systems
  • Knowledgeable in State and Federal Regulatory requirements, legal standards and procedures related to Health Information Systems and HIPAA
  • Healthcare coding validation consulting/auditing skills preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required for client staff and leadership interaction
  • Strong analytical and writing skills required for report development
  • Supervisory and/or Management experience required; Project Management experience preferred
